Naming Day Celebrations | Brisbane Family Photographer

 

On Sunday morning, the Wilson family celebrated their second daughter Kendall’s naming day. Held in the Tambourine Gardens Chapel, where parents, Monique and Blake had been married and big sister Kelsey had also celebrated her naming day, they were joined with family and friends for an intimate ceremony, held by the Celebrant, Max, who also presided over their wedding. I love the traditions that this family uphold. The christening gown is a family heirloom in which Monique and her siblings all wore as well as Kelsey and now Kendall.

Such a beautiful Sunday morning.

What to Wear for Your Photo Session | Brisbane Family Photographer

Well one of the most asked questions when booking your photo session is “What should we wear?”

Firstly your need to feel comfortable in what you’re wearing because otherwise it will show through in your photos if you’re not. Smiles are much better than grimaces! Secondly you don’t all have to wear the same colour but what does look great is if you all compliment each other.

 

Layering what you wear looks great in photos and can provide different looks as an item is added or removed. Don’t be afraid to accessorize as this can add colour & texture too. It is, however best to avoid big patterns and bold writing on t-shirts as well character clothes for your children. This can date the look of your photos very quickly.

When you book your photo session with me my welcome pack includes a guide to help you choose outfits to make your photos great. Work with what you have in your wardrobe, you don’t have to run out and buy all new clothes!

Little Delights| Brisbane Family Photographer

Three year old girls love to delight in spinning in their pretty dresses, blowing bubbles and playing up for my camera! Sophie did just that during her family session. A little shy at first she quickly warmed to me and we twirled and laughed and blew bubbles 🙂 A great way to spend an afternoon!

Mayes Cottage Moments | Brisbane Family Photography

One beautiful sunny afternoon I headed to the historical Mayes Cottage grounds for this family session. The original hut and sheds, which were built over 100 years ago, were just what The Umstads were looking for as a backdrop for their family photos. We frolicked among the mango and fig trees, sang some really out of tune songs. and captured some great memories for the family to enjoy.

A Special Family Session | Brisbane Family Photographer

On the first day of 2015, I was privileged to spend the afternoon with this very special family. Three year old Nicholas, has been battling leukemia for some time now and has spent most of his short life in and out of hospital. We had great afternoon playing in the park, riding the flying fox and whilst Nic was a little shy for the camera we we’re able to capture some special moments for the whole family.
